Software
All my dotfiles can be found on my Codeberg.
Basic
For Operating Systems and Desktop environments, see above.
- Terminal: Alacritty
- Shell: Fish
- Text editing and programming: In the terminal, I use vim (Luke Smith has an awesome tutorial series on his website if you'd like to learn). For GUI and most of my programming, I use VSCodium, an open source and Microsoft-free fork of the original Visual Studio Code.
- Web browser: For 90% of my daily browsing, Librewolf is my default. The rest I use plain Firefox for when certain sites won't load on Librewolf. I also have Brave installed for the rare cases when a site needs to a Chromium browser, but I very rarely use it.
- Search engine: A locally running SearX instance. Otherwise, DuckDuckGo.
- Browser extensions:
- uBlock Origin for ad blocking.
- Privacy Badger.
- Bitwarden for password manager.
- Dark Reader for my eyes.
- LibRedirect for redirecting websites to private frontends (read more, very cool project).
- LocalCDN.
- Vimium for vim keybinds in the browser.
- VPN: MullvadVPN.
Utility
- File manager: Thunar.
- Mail and calendar client: Thunderbird.
- Video and music player: When working in the terminal, I use MPV. In the GUI and for watching DVDs, I use VLC Media Player.
- Torrent client: qBittorrent.
Production
- Document writing: Libreoffice.
- Screen recordng: OBS Studio.
- Video editor: Kdenlive.
- Image editor: GIMP.
- Audio editor: Audacity.
Chat
For most of my day-to-day communication, I, unfortunately, use SMS and Discord. I am still trying (and failing) to get more people on to better alternatives, but it has deemed difficult.
Radios
- Baofeng UV-5R
- Baofeng GT-5R
